The Connection & Why

There has been a lifelong connection to Florida — and especially to St. Augustine — woven through my own story. The relationship began in the early 1970s when I was a student in Gainesville, where the city of St. Augustine and the beaches became a second home through years of surfing, exploring, and returning again and again as a visitor. Back then, we could drive on the beach at Anastasia State Park to our favorite surf spot, “Blowhole,” when it used to be one of the best breaks in Florida, and surf till dark. 🙂

As a lifelong Floridian, I’ve had wonderful opportunities to explore the beaches, backroads, small towns, and hidden corners of this state. Every place holds a memory — moments of surf, sun, music, people and community that shares a spot in my heart. These songs come from those experiences, from decades of feeling blessed to call Florida home, and from a desire to give something back to the places that have given me so much.

Music is another passion of mine. Having served as the lead/rhythm guitarist with the Low Flying Planes, a wedding and event band, I enjoy playing, writing and creating songs. So, in a nutshell, this project is my way of honoring the stories, landscapes, and communities that make Florida special — creating songs that feel like home and sharing them freely so others can feel that same connection.
